Northern Star Resources are currently seeking an energized and influential Training Coordinator to join the Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Training (HSSET) Department at the KCGM Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. The primary role of the Training Coordinator is to provide training support which is compliant to the national, corporate and legislative standards. Implementing a skills-based training program to all departments.
Working a 11-hour day on a 8:6 roster, this permanent, full-time, Kalgoorlie-based residential role, allows for great work-life balance, and an optimal lifestyle in the Goldfields.
Key Accountabilities
- Establishing and maintaining a strategic plan to guide the long-term provision of the Training & Development function at KCGM.
- Creating and embedding appropriate standards, processes, procedures and practices across site to ensure KCGM meets and / or exceeds its internal and external obligations.
- Leadership of the Training & Development Team through team development, planning, objective setting and performance monitoring.
- Determine what training packages and processes will be needed for the new mine simulator and make recommendations to the HSSET Manager and OP Mining Manager/Supt. Plan and implement these. Monitor and problem solve issues.
- Review the work being done by the Training Advisors to ensure that it aligns with the agreed site approach to training.
- Monitor the provision of content/availability of people for training and other information from the operating areas to ensure that the Training Advisors have what they need in order to do their work. Resolve issues that arise with site Superintendents and where needed escalate to HSSET Manager.
- Training & Development budgeting, including the annual budget and business planning cycle.
- Engage with the Corporate Learning team to work through system challenges, upgrades to ensure useability at a site level.
- Managing the traineeship and apprenticeship program compliance
Requirements
Qualifications Required
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - TAE 40122
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
Desired Experience & Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar role
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Detailed working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
- Familiarity with INX database modules such as InTuition, InFlight and InControl.
- Mining technology and heavy production equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in competency-based training and assessment methods.
- Experience in incident investigation and reporting.
- Good skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Effective delivery of training materials to crews.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Able to read and write English at an Australian Upper Secondary School standard.
