Job description

The Opportunity

As a Transfer Station Attendant and Plant Operator, you’ll oversee the receipt of waste and recyclables at the Mallacoota Transfer Station, maintaining security of the site, controlling site litter, coordinating recycling operations and assisting with the management of Transfer Station bins.

You’ll take on:

  • Communicating clearly and respectfully with customers, ensuring they are directed to the correct drop off or disposal area
  • Ensuring that recyclables are identified and diverted away from landfill
  • Completing any required operational and site reporting for activities undertaken
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the Transfer Station
  • Using a Backhoe to compact the waste and prepare bins for transport

This is a permanent part time role working 28 hours per fortnight a 7 day on, 7 day off roster. Your working hours during your 7 days on will be:

  • Monday to Friday 8am to 12pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm

Things You’re Proud Of

  • Experience/ability in operating a Transfer Station or similar infrastructure.
  • Ability to operate plant and equipment for the management of a Transfer Station.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • To be able to communicate effectively with members of the public
  • To be physically able to perform the duties of this position
  • Able to manage time and workload.
  • A current, valid Victorian driver’s licence and a Backhoe ticket.

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and pre-employment medical check.
