THE ROLE - SAFETY OFFICER 

As a Safety Officer you will facilitate and create all aspects of the employee’s safety, and ensure that all legislation is adhered to, for the safety of everyone.

PRIMARY ROLE FOCUS 

• Health & Safety support to relevant business units.
• Maintenance of safety management systems at site.
• Execution of individual work task timely as assigned by the Safety Manager and/or Senior Manager Operations Safety, Risk and Compliance
• Report progress update to your manager
• Ensuring that all EHS business and individual responsibilities are met and monitored.
• Ensuring that activities are performed safely, accurately and in accordance with legislative, company and customer requirements.
• Building and maintaining effective, productive relationships with all stakeholders within the business for EHS.
• Participate on Safety Person on Call within safety team on a rotational basis including weekdays after hours and weekends/public holidays.
• Perform the functions of the Site Safety Officer
• Maintain and review Safety documentation.
• Provide relevant training and support to the business to continuously improve safety functions and operations
• Taking reasonable care to protect your own and others health and safety.
• Report, hazards, incidents and injuries /illness.
• Adhere to EHS policies and procedures and comply with all instructions and requirements for EHS.
• Observe all company policies and
  procedures

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Previous experience in a safety role essential
• Safety officer experience
• Certificate III or above in OH&S
• Prior Transport Industry knowledge advantageous
• Knowledge of relevant legislations and act
• Computer and software capabilities
• Ability to learn in house systems quickly
• Highly organised
• High level of accuracy
• MS Office Suite (intermediate / advanced)
