Turf Solutions - Grounds Person

Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions brings the Adelaide Oval team and its unparalleled expertise and high-quality workmanship to sporting grounds, clubs and community spaces across South Australia and beyond. The Turf SolutionsGrounds Person will assist in providing services such as renovations, maintenance, turf consultations, construction & reconstruction, pitch curation & maintenance and drop-in pitch design & construction to a range of sporting venues and green spaces locally and internationally. This position is not solely based at Adelaide Oval travel will be required. 

• Turf Renovations including weed removal, dethatching, aerating, fertilising.
• Maintenance Programs
  • Working with clients to implement regular maintenance programs.
  • Following the management programs for pesticides, fertilisers and other chemicals.
  • Maintaining, controlling and growing Turf.
• Maintaining the turf sports surfaces standards which include:
  • Cricket pitch squares and ovals.
  • Practice cricket pitches.
  • Football and other winter sport surfaces.
  • All other turf and landscaping.
• Meeting with clients for turf consultations and provide recommendations of work required within approved budget and timeframes.
• Construction & Reconstruction
  • Redesigning and construction including implementing drainage, irrigation and laying of turf.
  • Replacing, cutting, edging, and spraying of turf on the wicket as required.
• Working with managers to achieve program objectives.
• Assisting with Adelaide Oval match day and events works program when required.
• Cutting, whipper snipping, rolling, fertilizing, top dressing and fumigating of oval and surrounding grounds.

• Experience in all aspects of irrigation and horticulture maintenance.
• The ability to work within specified timeframes and adhere to specified deadlines.
• Experience in operation of a range of mowers, tractors, and specialized turf equipment.
• Experience preparing turf for cricket and football fields.
• Understanding of the Turf industry and programs.
• The ability to work unsupervised as well as in a team environment with a strong attention to detail.
• The ability to liaise with a wide range of people including staff, contractors, and clients.
• A flexible and proactive approach.

• A current driver’s licence is required.
• A current MR driver’s licence or willingness to get one.
• International travel may be required and would require a valid passport.
• Relevant trade qualifications or higher including Cert III Horticulture or Sports Turf Management.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Working With Children Check.
• Ability to use computer systems such as Microsoft Office and app-based systems.
