Uc Bar Supervisor - Ucx

The role of UC Bar Supervisor is to oversee the operations of the University of Canberra campus bar run by UCX. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the vibrant campus community by providing exceptional service to students, faculty staff and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a commitment to upholding university policies and values and a passion for creating a welcome and inclusive environment.

The bar is open Monday-Saturday 12-10pm 

Duties:

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead, mentor and supervise a team of bartenders and support staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
• Provide training and ongoing development opportunities to enhance staff skills and ensure consistent service excellence.
• Schedule staff effectively to meet operational needs while adhering to budgetary constraints and university policies.

Operations Management:

• Oversee day-to-day bar operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and cash handling.
• Ensure compliance with all university policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to alcohol service.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the bar area, including proper sanitation protocols.

Customer Service:

• Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive experience for all patrons.
• Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and courteously including management of bookings

Collaboration and Communication

• Liaise with university administration, student organizations, and other campus stakeholders to coordinate events, promotions, and special initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and external partners to facilitate smooth operations and resolve issues as they arise.
• Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to stay informed about university policies, procedures, and initiatives.

Financial Management:

• Monitor sales, expenses, and inventory levels to optimize profitability and control costs

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

• Previous experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of individuals.
• Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Certification in responsible alcohol service in the ACT
• Professional approach and ability to work in a multi-stakeholder environment.
