About The Role:
The Underground Technician / Sampler will be responsible for the mark up, geological sampling, data collection and dispatch of Underground geological samples, ensuring the best quality of ore is being maximized from NGF's Underground operations, whiles providing administrative and logistical support to the Underground Geology Team.
The Underground Technician / Sampler will have regular interaction with Geologists, Drilling contractors and site procurements to ensure field tasks are completed to a high standard and on time, whiles additionally interacting with the Underground Geology team, Senior mine Geologist, Underground Shift Supervisors and Underground Mine Manager.
Key Duties and Tasks:
- Maintain housekeeping of the Core yard and your work area to company standards.
- Complete core orientation mark up, prepare geotechnical samples and SG measurements on drill core as required.
- Collect geotechnical information - RQD's and fracture frequency from diamond drill core.
- Collect, wash, photograph and prepare diamond drill core for logging. Clean core trays for re-use and discard damaged trays.
- Store or dispose of the diamond drill core as required. Provide long term access and retrieval of diamond drill core and other samples.
- Follow all underground rules and procedures.
- Ensure vehicles are maintained to company standards and are in a safe, clean working order at the start and end of each shift.
- Sample stockpiles, as required. Assist underground with sludge sampling. Complete a working with heights and jumbo off-siding ticket for any sampling alongside an active jumbo or from an elevated work basket.
- Map, photograph and sample the ore headings and provide jumbo operator with directions and communicate the directions with Shift Boss, Mine Forman, and all technical staff.
- Communicate with the geology team when the core is available for logging. Assist the geology group with the forklift loading/unloading core trays from racks.
- Responsible for data entry of all types of production tracking data including sample submission tracking.
- Process assays returned from the laboratory for accurate grade tracking. Enter data face location data or similar into Datashed as directed by UG Mine Geologist.
- Ensure all issues and hazards are made known to all personnel and gets reported.
- Ensure active communication with all mine personnel, shift supervisors, geology, survey and engineering departments.
- Attend pre-start and safety meetings, safe act observations and hazard reporting. Assist with safety inspections.
- Report to supervisor current stock level of bags, paints and other consumables.
- Perform all other duties as required and directed by your supervisor.
Role Requirements:
- Current unencumbered C class Western Australian Drivers Licence (Essential)
- Senior First Aid (Desirable)
- Working at Heights (Desirable)
- Forklift license (Desirable)
- Satisfactory NPC Clearance (Essential)
- Valid work visa, permanent residency or Australian citizenship (Essential)
Skills and Experience
WORK KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic mapping and sampling skills are desirable.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Highly developed written and verbal communication.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft office
- Surpac (Desirable)
- MPX or similar production data tracking software (Desirable)
- Datashed (Desirable)
