About the team
Established in 2002, the Rural Clinical School is an Australian Government workforce initiative designed to attract more doctors to rural practice. Participating medical students spend their penultimate academic year in one of 15 rural towns, offering excellent educational opportunities as well as the possibility of a real understanding of, and enthusiasm for, community and rural life. The RCSWA has 15 teaching sites from Kununurra to Esperance with a small number of medical education and administration staff based in Perth. The administrative Centre for the RCSWA is in Kalgoorlie. This position is based in the Perth office in the Faculty of Medicine at UWA in the QEII campus.
About the opportunity
As a Unit Coordinator you will work collaboratively with the RCSWA team to provide educational leadership and support that will improve the student experience and enhance the quality of the course.
Your main responsibilities will include curriculum development and improvement, reviewing courses assessment, and playing a key role in the learning and teaching of medical students. You will also use your creativity to initiative and encourage innovative ideas and approaches to course design and delivery.
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications plus postgraduate qualifications and/or substantial relevant experience in health education.
- Demonstrated contribution to the advancement of teaching and learning in the health education field
- Demonstrated understanding of issues relevant to the rural medical practice context and teaching and learning in diverse rural sites.
- Strong project management, communication, and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with a variety of people and understand diverse learning needs
The successful candidate will be required to travel to rural sites as required.
