About the Role
Join the Lifestyle team within ABC News to film, edit and produce engaging mobile-first digital video content for multiple platforms and channels including the ABC Everyday Instagram account. This role has a focus on end-to-end video production, including scripting, filming, presenting, and editing. It involves working with digital reporters to assist them to film and file of Vertical Videos for Instagram, TikTok, ABC News site and mobile app. This role involves community management and social media responsibilities for the ABC Everyday Instagram account. The Lifestyle team covers Wellbeing, Relationships & Family, Food & Recipes, Personal Finance & Work, as well as Home & Garden.
Under the broad direction of the Lifestyle Editor, and in collaboration with colleagues, you will:
- Script, present and edit engaging mobile-first video content for multiple platforms and channels
- Contribute to the planning and commissioning processes for new content ideas and formats, improving ABC’s mobile video content across digital platforms.
- Identify target audience segments for content and execute digital plans to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences.
- Monitor and analyse complex user data and audience metrics to assess performance, and inform future video commissions.
- Collaborate with other News and ABC content teams to ensure effective content production and distribution.
- Enhance stories with multimedia elements including video packages and images.
About You
You will have significant experience in the creation of digital video and visual content in a media organisation for social media, including community management experience. You will give support in a working environment that encourages feedback, skills sharing and mobile-first storytelling.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated significant experience in digital content production for social media, including video editing and sub-editing skills.
- Highly advanced ability to analyse and interpret audience metrics to influence decision making.
- Demonstrated understanding of online and social mediums, methods of content distribution and engagement, and knowledge of trends in video consumption and audience behaviours on digital platforms.
- Experience producing, shooting and editing compelling video journalism.
- Experience managing social media accounts, including community management and creating original content for a social-only audience
- Proven organisational and time management skills in a deadline driven environment.
- Proven communication and teamwork skills.
- Advanced editorial judgement and a ready supply of stories that tap into what matters in people’s lives.
