THE BUSINESS

Cruise Whitsundays is an award winning, innovative, and experienced maritime operator, based in Airlie Beach. Our experiences include day and overnight tours throughout the Whitsundays, as well as resort connection services. We are proud to offer Australia’s first underwater accommodation, Reefsuites, on The Great Barrier Reef and exclusive Reefsleep experience at Reefworld moored offshore at Hardy Reef, 40 nautical miles from Airlie Beach.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently on the hunt for Casual & Permanent Full Time Vessel Masters who hold AMSA Master <45m NC with corresponding Marine Engine Driver Tickets. To create and deliver the highest standard for vessel safety and compliance, vessel handling, crew management and hospitality service. We want you to be a brand ambassador of the incredible experiences we bring to life.

We have dynamic opportunities across the Cruise Whitsundays fleet as a respected and valued Vessel Master. Provide support across all products including Camira Sailing, Great Barrier Reef Adventure, Whitehaven Beach to Resort Connections! Your primary job is the safe and efficient operation of our fleet, whilst ensuring outstanding crew performance and importantly that each and every guest has an experience of a lifetime! Together with your team, you will share special places and create lasting memories.

Your days might include:

  • Showing a commitment to our luxury brand going above and beyond to ensure a great guest experience.
  • Management and safe operation of the vessel;
  • Delivery of leadership and guidance to the crew enabling their professional motivation and growth;
  • Overseeing the delivery of exceptional guest experiences on product;
  • Maintaining a safety management system and completing the necessary documentation;
  • Conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures;
  • Compliance of all vessel, training and permit requirements on-board; and
  • Maintaining all vessel records to the appropriate standard (logs, maintenance etc.).

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be passionate about the marine industry with a real commitment to delivering the best standards;
  • Know your stuff, have extensive high-speed commercial vessel handling skills experience and be recognised for your leadership capabilities in crew management;
  • Proven working knowledge on conducting safety drills;
  • Ability to manage time and have strong organisational skills;
  • Have an energy that’s dynamic and you have fun when you work – your smile will say it all.

Requirements

  • Minimum Master<24m NC and Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 (MED3);
  • Master <45 NC and Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 is highly desirable;
  • Sailing Experience is highly desirable;
  • QLD Responsible Service of Alcohol;
  • Working with Children's Check (Blue Card);
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID015 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Apply Basic Oxygen.
