Veterinary Laboratory Scientist/Assistant - Pcr

IDEXX are currently seeking an experienced part-time Veterinary Laboratory Scientist or Assistant to work within our PCR Department within the largest Veterinary Laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere in our brand-new custom designed laboratory in Eight Mile Plains. You will work as part of a team and contribute to the delivery of a timely, effective, and efficient diagnostic pathology services. As a member of a specialised team, you – as the successful hire, will ensure the provision of high-quality, efficient, effective, and timely polymerase chain reaction diagnostic testing. The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will apply professional knowledge in PCR investigations, exercising professional judgement in interpretation, verification, and validation of the results. This is a part-time role, participating in 19 hours per week across a Monday-Saturday roster.

The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will ensure that IDEXX Reference Laboratories operate at the highest level of accuracy by performing, monitoring and acting upon quality control procedures – while monitoring, calibrating, and troubleshooting their performance, in compliance with NATA and ISO accreditation/certification requirements at all times

The Successful candidate…

• Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent), we will also consider candidates still completing their degree with adequate laboratory experience.
• Efficiency in performing low volume pipetting is essential.
• PC & data entry skills are essential.
• Hygienic work experience and proper use of biosafety cabinets desirably is a molecular lab.
• Experience within a diagnostic laboratory setting is highly desired.
• Exposure to PCR testing is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to policies and practices.
• Experience in operating efficiently and effectively to meet tight turnaround times in a commercial lab environment.
• A passion for providing exceptional customer service.
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
