The role of Visitor Services Assistant supports the Visitor and Information Services branch in the delivery of a professional and responsive visitor service experience while meeting key service objectives and State Library's service commitments.
Duties and responsibilities we'll trust you with
- Contributing to a positive and safe work environment by modelling conduct that is culturally capable, inclusive, respectful and ethical
- Supporting the delivery of programs and services that promotes State Library's collections to the community and fosters curiosity, debate and discussion while meeting State Library's service commitments
- Participating in a high performing Visitor Services team to deliver a professional and responsive Visitor Services experience which meets key objectives of the Visitor & Information Services branch and organisational priorities
- Responding to general client enquiries, providing advice and information on library memberships, gathering visitor feedback and assisting clients in activities such as locating lost property
- Working effectively as a team member and undertaking front of house services. This includes the maintenance of public spaces and equipment
- Undertaking day to day operations at the Library Café or The Brink including:
- Sales
- Cash handling
- Stocking
- Float reconciliation
- End of day banking procedures.
- Ensuring records management is undertaken such as updating relevant databases and visitor information records on a timely basis
- Contributing to business improvement activities ensuring relevant policies, procedures and guidelines meet best practice and State Library requirements. This includes a continuous improvement cycle for feedback, raising concerns and generating solutions
- Contributing to a productive and positive work environment in times of change and uncertainty. This includes being a proactive member of the Visitor Services team and contributing to the Visitor & Information Services branch as well as providing guidance and/or mentoring to casual employees and/or volunteers ensuing they are included, supported and well-informed
- Participating in, contributing to and/or managing financial, human resource and/or ICT responsibilities as per the organisational delegations, policies and procedures.
- Applications will remain current for a period of up to 12 months and may be considered for other vacancies (identical or similar).
- Appointments are subject to criminal history checks in accordance with section 52 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
