About the role:
Our Warehouse Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing warehouse activities to ensure smooth operations. They manage inventory, prioritise safety, and coordinate with various departments for optimal efficiency. This role demands strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
Key responsibilities include managing receiving, storing, picking, and packing while maintaining high-quality standards. The Manager must ensure inventory accuracy, coordinate order fulfillment, and track shipping times. Success in this role requires multitasking capabilities and a deep understanding of logistics systems and warehouse management processes.
Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, the Warehouse Manager implements operational targets and fosters a culture of safety and accountability among staff. They lead continuous improvement initiatives, talent development, and adherence to quality and productivity targets. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and managing logistics, warehouse, transportation and meeting demands of the internal customer.
- Directing, optimising and coordinating full order cycle.
- Liaising and negotiating with suppliers, operations.
- Actively manage quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
- Resolve any arising problems or complaints.
- Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce.
- Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets.
- Maintain metrics and utilise data to inform decisions and to assess performance and implement improvements.
- Comply with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements.
- Supervise daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service.
- Schedule and oversee warehouse team and manage the flow and quality of work to maximise efficiency and minimize overtime.
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary.
- Meet regularly with warehouse leads to analyse productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention.
- Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities, communicating with drivers and air partners to ensure efficient delivery of packages.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and assist with pre-production kitting as required.
About you:
- Sound ‘hands-on’ experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience leading teams in a production or warehousing and logistics environment.
- Exposure to Steel, Building products, Industrial manufacturing, or Construction industry (essential).
- Current and valid forklift License – LF essential.
- Sound understanding of warehouse-related systems and tools, including inventory management and transportation management.
- Experience in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Experience with inventory control and quality management.
- Knowledge of product management, particularly in new product awareness and development input.
- In-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, including receiving, dispatch, inventory control, and stock movements.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Understanding of quality control principles to ensure accuracy and minimize errors in picking, packing, and invoicing.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices to meet and exceed customer needs.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Proficient in the use of Office 365, other Warehouse Systems and ERP Software.
- Good analytical skills to analyse data and identify areas for improvement.
- Good communication skills with a high level of social-emotional awareness.
- Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated organisational and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence staff.
- Proven ability to prioritise workload, meet targets/deadlines, and manage a busy work environment.
- Physical capability to perform activities such as bending, lifting and walking in a warehouse environment.
