Company
A family owned and operated logistics business who service the complete supply chain from grower to retailer in the wholesale fresh produce industry.
Role
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer you will be responsible for co-ordinating warehouse operations that include activities associated with the transport, fumigation, import and unloading at the warehouse and the Chep Yard.
The role will involve:
- Managing the warehouse team, fumigation team and Chep Yard forklift drivers.
- Assisting and working with the transport supervisor and drivers to support transport division activities.
- Receival of handover from the previous night’s unloading activities.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Administrative duties including handling customer queries, accepting and reviewing paperwork and overseeing fumigation administration.
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of pallets onto trucks in the warehouse, yard or market as well as loading into cool rooms.
- Loading delivery vehicles, ensuring all produce are secure and stable whilst being distributed from the relevant location.
- Assisting with the maintenance of the company fleet plus other tasks as required.
- Operating a range of computer-based applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Contributing to a cohesive team environment by sharing information, supporting and assisting colleagues in a proactive manner to meet goals and deadlines.
- Contributing to the efficiency of the administrative function through actively participating in business improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring the warehouse and outside yard is cleaned daily.
- Extra shifts will be required to be worked to cover staff absences on weekends.
- Ordinary hours will include public holidays (penalty rates will apply).
Experience
The importance of working within a team environment, being punctual and having a high attention to detail is a must.
You must have a forklift license, excellent communication skills and a willingness to be trained and/or upskilled. A fumigation license and knowledge of import/export procedures is preferred (not essential).
