The Role
The Warehousing and Distribution (W&D) Manager will develop and contribute to plans and strategies for logistics inventory management, supporting regional Defence units and our extended networks.
Leading and managing a team, they will deliver the expected outcomes of Joint Logistics Unit (South), establishing strong working relationships with customers and Australian Industry Partners. Through stakeholder engagement, they will plan and coordinate existing and future activities, clearly defining the end-to-end supply chain requirements. By pro-actively managing W&D service delivery contracts, they will collaborate and maintain effective working relationships, driving positive reputation and outcomes for the unit.
Utilising their experience and expertise, they will analyse supply chain data, take initiative to identify alternate courses of action, understand and implement Defence strategic plans and deliver logistic services within an integrated network.
About Our Team
Joint Logistics Unit (South) is an integrated workforce providing varying levels of Warehousing, Distribution and Maintenance logistical services to Defence in South Australia. Under Logistics Operations Branch, our joint team of Military, Commonwealth and Industry Partner Contractors deliver support from multiple sites at Edinburgh and our extended regional areas. Within our unit, our reputable teams foster culture, subject matter expertise, leadership and communication to provide a customer focus to our stakeholders enabling Defence capabilities.

Our ideal candidate with be an emerging or established senior manager. In support of the Executive team, they will display strong skills in professionalism and leadership, enacting emotional intelligence and driving positive culture.
They will be self-motivated, collaborative and provide innovation, engaging at various levels with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. They will display a proven track record as a trusted and engaging manager with a desire to improve and develop others. An ability to engage with personnel at all levels will be advantageous, showing excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. They will bring strong time management, adaptability to changing workloads, negotiation and a focus towards continual improvement.
An understanding of relevant legislative frameworks, Defence's mission and policy will be highly regarded, as will extensive experience and leadership within a logistics environment.
