Talent International is currently recruiting for a Waste Officerto work for an NSW Government client based in Sydney. The position is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension and are paying $362 per day super.
8 hours a day / 40 hours a week
Key accountabilities
- Waste contract management – Manage day to day waste operations in client’s own buildings, address complaints and requests, conduct waste audits and carry out contract Service Level Measurement (SLM) tracking. Respond to requests through effective stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
- Analyse data, create reports, and deliver presentations to stakeholders, aiming to engage them in sustainability initiatives and enhance performance to meet sustainability targets.
- Research waste recycling solutions, liaise with stakeholders and set up processes to increase source separation in client buildings.
- Identify and implement recycling initiatives that will assist in meeting operational targets and improve overall sustainability outcomes.
- Assist in accurate and timely reporting on client’s waste targets by working with stakeholders within and across divisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, collaborate with stakeholders, and implement corrective measures.
- Work across the Sustainability Infrastructure team to assist team members with sustainability projects apart from waste management, data analysis, reporting, and process improvement, with the aim of achieving the client’s sustainability targets pertaining to their buildings.
- Collaborate with communications teams, draft articles in internal and external newsletters, develop flyers and collateral to drive behaviour change and improve waste outcomes in client buildings.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental management, or related field and/or significant experience in sustainability positions.
- Highly developed skills and prior experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong commitment to accuracy and meticulous attention to detail, coupled with the ability to quickly grasp instructions, new concepts and adapt to evolving tasks and responsibilities.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise, negotiate, and effectively resolve conflicts and reconcile competing interests.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and strength of character to deal effectively with difficult stakeholders.
- Highly developed contract management skills and demonstrated experience in delivering sustainability projects on time and within budget, achieving measurable results.
- Demonstrated experience in working with sustainability platforms will be well received.
- Experience working with GECA standards and NABERS ratings is desirable.
- Experience with large property portfolios or previous experience working within a Council is desirable.
