The Role
The Waste Engagement Officer is responsible for supporting the effective and efficient delivery of Waverley Council’s waste services by engaging and supporting residents, businesses, and visitors to avoid and minimize waste, reduce contamination, optimize resource recovery, and support Waverley’s participation in the circular economy. They will develop an educational plan and collaborate within internal and external stakeholders to drive best practice waste presentation to lead to a cleaner Waverley.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. sustainability education, environmental management, communications, and social sciences), or demonstrated equivalent competencies gained through extensive work experience.
- A sound understanding of current environmental and/or waste management issues relevant to local government.
- Experience in applying behavior change frameworks and interventions that leverage attitudes and behaviors towards positive environmental outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience to effectively manage waste and/or environmental projects and programs within budget and agreed timeframe.
- Demonstrated experience in communicating with residents and community groups.
- Class C Driver’s Licence.
