The Role
The Waste Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and implementing education and engagement strategies that support the effective and efficient delivery of Council’s waste services and contribute to a zero waste Waverley. This position is responsible for the delivery of projects and programs aimed at waste avoidance and minimisation, recycling improvement, resource recovery, litter and illegal dumping prevention.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. sustainability education, environmental management, communications, and social sciences), or demonstrated equivalent competencies gained through extensive work experience.
- A sound understanding of current environmental and/or waste management issues relevant to local government.
- Experience in applying behavior change frameworks and interventions that leverage attitudes and behaviors towards positive environmental outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience to effectively manage waste and/or environmental projects and programs within budget and agreed timeframe.
- Demonstrated experience in communicating with residents and community groups.
- Class C Driver’s Licence.
