AddressThe Waste Education Officer is a 6-month term contract position, in this role you will be reporting to the Waste Management Supervisor.
This position is responsible for providing customer support and educational services to residents about Council’s Waste Policy and Procedure, Regional Waste Policy and Procedure and commercial and business premises within the City of Parramatta Council’s local government area.
On a daily basis you will:
- Liaise with operational staff and contractors on waste procedure and performance and corrective actions.
- Develop plans for the education of the community in relation to waste reduction and effectively implement programs adopted by Council.
- Prepare written reports to Waste and Cleansing Manager on waste reduction education, information issues, programs, and outcomes.
- Participate in the roll out of Council’s new waste service including the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) service.
About You: We are seeking an individual with:
- Relevant degree qualifications in waste management or environmental science or equivalent qualification from an advanced tertiary institution together with a thorough knowledge and 2-3 years appropriate industry experience
- Current drivers’ license
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports.
- Demonstrated understanding of current waste management initiatives and waste management strategies.
Desirable:
- Experience in education and marketing field
- Understanding of the Local Government Act as well as other legislation
- Experience in preparation of grant applications, reports and studies.
- Ability to undertake compliance audits.

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $90,298.17 to $99,439.03 plus 11% Superannuation.
