Waste Project Officer Intern
Citywide have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Project Officer Intern to join our prestigious Waste Services contract on an 18-month fixed term contract. In this role you will be working alongside the Sustainability & Continuous Improvement Lead to execute waste related projects. You will build resources and information for internal stakeholders, assist in project ideation, project design and execution and liaise with professional colleagues through presentation, demonstrations and small group discussions.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Sustainability and Continuous Improvement Lead with a portfolio of waste related project work.
- Gain a broad understanding of the suite of activities required to fulfil the contract service specifications.
- Research technologies and opportunities that help Citywide and specifically the contract team to execute its service obligations with reduced waste.
- Bring your passion for the environment, sustainability, project and change management to solve the challenges of inner-city services.
- Work with the team lead and broader team to develop project scopes and project artifacts, paying close attention to project governance.
- Present project findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with system analysis and data collection when required.
- Develop resources for internal stakeholders such as fact sheets, infographics, videos or other media.
- Visit depots and sites around Melbourne when required.
- Work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders to play your part in legislative compliance, compliance to company polices and safe methods of working.
- Other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications, Skills and experience required:
- Tertiary qualification or final year student in environmental science or engineering, sustainability, project management or related discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Comfortable presenting in front of small to medium sized groups of people.
- Ability to build rapport with all stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently when required.
- Valid Victorian Drivers Licence (Desirable).
- Experience working in fast paced operational environments (Desirable).
- Double degree or second major highly regarded.
