About the role
The City of Canning are looking for skilled Waste Service Operators with extensive experience operating Side-loading rubbish trucks and related plant and machinery.
Reporting to the Coordinator Waste Operations, this full-time permanent position is responsible for providing a timely waste collection and disposal service within the City of Canning and ensuring professional customer service to the City’s residents and customers.
A snapshot of your new role:
- Operate a variety of plant and vehicles including (but not limited to) Side-loading Rubbish & Recycle trucks, Schaffer Loaders, Rear-loading Litter & Verge trucks
- Act as vehicle custodian, including responsibility of pre-starts, vehicle logs and routine daily maintenance
- Collect verge-side green waste, including illegally dumped material
- Bin maintenance and litter collection, including park and street bins
- Assist in training and coaching new team members
- Assist in resolving customer enquiries and complaints
Who we’re looking for:
- Heavy vehicle license - minimum “HR-A”
- Extensive experience operating Side-loading rubbish trucks
- Proven experience operating other waste collection vehicles and associated plant and machinery
- Professional, customer-focused and team orientated
- Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks in a safe manner in all weather conditions
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)

- $69,407.87 per annum ($35.13 p/hr) + super
