  • Salary from $101,669 - $107,651 per annum, plus superannuation
  • Exciting opportunity to join a growth Council, work with an energetic and vibrant team, and work on waste management and resource recovery projects that involve:
    • Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO);
    • Community Drop-off Sites;
    • Transfer Stations;
    • Bulk Waste Collection; and
    • Waste to Energy (WtE) to name a few

About The Position

The City is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the City's Waste Services team. Reporting to the Manager Waste Services, the position will lead the Waste Services project team to ensure the City continues to move forward with its strategic waste ambitions. The preferred candidate will be afforded the autonomy to make a real difference in delivering on these ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and overseeing all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for a range of waste related projects in accordance with the City's Project Management Framework, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget, within scope and to quality standards.
  • Evaluates and manages all aspects of project implementation, including risk and contingency management, project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, access project progress and effectiveness and achieve project outcomes.
  • Sources, collates and compiles data and information on projects.
  • Undertakes research and analysis, identifying trends, opportunities and issues, and developing evidence based options and determine solutions to solve complex capital works project and operational problems.

About You

As a collaborative member of the Waste Services team, you will be accountable for ensuring the delivery of the City's waste management and resource recovery projects, plans and technical outputs, while effectively leading the Waste Services project team to deliver results. As a Projects Manager, you will have the relevant tertiary qualifications and substantial experience managing waste management and resource recovery projects, and thrive working in a busy and change driven environment. As such, you will demonstrate through your resume and covering letter that you meet the following capabilities:

  • Tertiary qualifications in waste management, environmental/civil engineering, environmental science/management, or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, including experience in project management of waste projects or experience in waste management industry.
  • Ability to understand complex issues/challenges, identify solutions, and present these to stakeholders in a manner that is easy to understand and suited to the audience.
  • Prioritisation of competing priorities whilst ensuring outcomes are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Sound financial management skills, specifically the ability to understand and develop projects and operational budgets and interrogate these where necessary.
  • Sound understanding and experience working within the confines of waste management and resource recovery legislations and statutory tools, specifically those for Western Australia.
  • High level written and oral communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop and build key strategic partnerships.
