About the position:
The Waste Supervisor position is part of a team responsible for the control and supervision of the daily operations of Council’s waste management across the Toowoomba Region.
- This is a permanent full-time position based at the Greater Waste Management Facility at O'Mara Road Wellcamp.
- The base salary for this position is $77,223.52 - $82,594.58 gross per year, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

Toowoomba Regional Council’s Waste Services Branch manages, operates, and controls the region’s Waste Management Facilities including resource recovery and recycling. The branch coordinates waste collection and disposal, recovery and recycling services.
The team is composed of indoor and outdoor staff that collaboratively offers a wealth of knowledge and experience in different aspects of waste management. Driven by Toowoomba Regional Council’s Waste Management Strategy 2021, Waste Services Branch believe that setting out the waste and resource recovery needs of the region is an essential service that plays a key role in minimising the environmental impact of waste while enhancing public health. Working with the team will also provide the successful candidate the opportunity to make a difference and work towards “a Sustainable Tomorrow” for the Toowoomba Region.
How to be successful in this position:
1. Mandatory Qualifications.
- Chain of Responsibility training TLIF0001& TLIF0002. If not held must obtain within 3 months of commencement.
- Senior First Aid Certificate. If not held must obtain within 6 months of commencement.
- WH&S Competency Card – Work Safely in the Construction Industry
- Current unrestricted “C” Class Driver’s Licence.
- Certificate IV Waste Management, or equivalent relevant qualifications and/or experience.
- Current “LR” or higher-class Driver’s Licence.
- Relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Waste management processes and activities, including landfill operations and resource recovery activities.
- Waste reporting requirements and systems, including gatehouse procedures, waste acceptance criteria and waste specific software operation.

6. Demonstrated organisational and planning skills in managing competing priorities.
7. Ability to exercise judgement in identifying and resolving issues where procedures are not clearly defined.
