About the Role:
As a Water Banking Delivery Specialist in the Water Strategy team at Rio Tinto Iron Ore, you'll be at the forefront of delivering key water storage projects across RTIOâs Pilbara iron ore operation. The role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and passionate team, changing the way we approach water management, and implement step-change solutions to meet RTIOâs short to medium term operational and water stewardship goals.
Role Purpose:
Act as intermediary between the business leadership team and the project team, and with accountability for the delivery of the program; ensuring business and project needs are met and progressing in a timely manner, such to mitigate / avoid business impacts.
Management of projects through lifecycle (order of magnitude, pre-feasibility study, feasibility study, execution, commissioning, handover, closeout).
Provide active project sponsorship, oversight and stewardship of key Water Banking / storage projects across the Pilbara.
Translate RTIOâs commitment to water stewardship into tangible outcomes through delivery of strategic water storage projects.
Contribute to and drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in water management.
Serve as an escalation point for issues, other matters and obstacles that are beyond the control of the project manager and or other divisional leads.
Be responsible for the overall quality, value, and benefits for the project, from initiation to the end product.
Skills & Experience Required:
Experience with and or familiarity with the scoping, design and implementation of Pit Lake Water Storage, Dams and or Tailings Facilities.
Strong understanding and demonstrated application of Project Management principals.
Experience with and understanding of early study phases and outcomes (Order of Magnitude, Pre-Feasibility etc.)
Familiarity and experience with assessing, evaluation and defining regulatory approval requirements.
Aâ¯strategic thinkerâ¯with an understanding of the challenges associated with mine water management.
Aâ¯strong influencerâ¯with the ability to build consensus and persuade stakeholders across diverse technical and operational backgrounds.
Anâ¯excellent communicatorâ¯who can translate technical information into clear and concise messages for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Anâ¯analytical mindsetâ¯comfortable working with data to inform decisions.
Aâ¯self-starterâ¯with a proactive and results-oriented approach, eager to learn and grow your expertise in the water management field.
Hold aâ¯bachelor's degree in a related science/engineering discipline (water focused study experience considered).
Background and or exposure in Civil, Geotechnical, Hydrogeological disciplines is preferrable, but not mandatory.
Aâ¯current manual WA Driver's license
