headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Edmondson Park work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Edmondson Park. We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.
About the position
If you are passionate about Youth Mental Health and want to make a positive difference to the lives of young people and their families, we would love for you to join our headspace team as a Youth Care Coordinator!
This role involves active participation in headspace Edmondson Parks community awareness activities promoting the health and wellbeing of young people and meaningful youth participation in the service. The Youth Care Coordinator works collaboratively with a young person and their friends, family and carers to identify their support needs, goals and develop collaborative care plans. In line with the care plans the Youth Care Coordinator provides practical assistance, referral, and advocacy to young people and their friends, family and carers as well as short term counselling where indicated.
This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity to 30 June 2025 with an extension expected subject to additional funding. Full-time employees have the option to enjoy a monthly RDO!
Please note that headspace Edmondson Park is currently under construction, so you will be based at our headspace Liverpool office until the centre is established.
- Qualifications in a relevant field or working towards same e.g. youth work, community welfare, social work, psychology, peer work, occupational therapy, counselling or other related qualifications or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems.
- Experience working within a team environment, providing coordination of care and ability to work from a recovery-oriented framework.
- Computer literacy and data entry competency including MS office and demonstrated capacity learn new technologies including clinical software packages.
