Payroll Officer

As a Payroll Officer at BGIS, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing accurately and efficiently. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for our employees.

This role is based in Sydney and on a 12-month contract!

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing weekly payrolls for assigned employee groups.
- Oversight of newly acquired entities' payrolls until they are transferred onto existing BGIS payroll systems.
- Ensuring all timesheets, payroll changes, records and other related material are received prior to the close of the payroll run.
- Process payroll on a timely basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Maintain pay records and employee records, including timekeeping, attendance, and benefits information.
- Calculate and process payroll adjustments, including bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Generate and distribute pay statements, tax forms, and other payroll-related documents.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters promptly and professionally.
- Undertaking all coding related to salaries and leave.
- Calculating, paying and coding all casual employees' pay.
- Calculating termination pays.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure proper handling of employee data and payroll-related transactions.

Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in Australian payroll
- Solid understanding of award interpretation
- Knowledge of basic payroll procedures, organizational structure and organizational policies
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills
- The ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with conflicting time constraints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook) and competent using MS Excel
- Minimum high school level of education (Essential)
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting (Desirable)
