Due to sustained growth, we require a motivated & experienced Welding Manager to join our expanding facilities in Mackay, QLD.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Welding Manager will be responsible for overseeing all welding operations across 2 (soon to be 3) facilities. The successful candidate will be a technical guru who is deeply passionate about continuous improvement and ideally has experience supervising or managing welding operations within advanced manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities:
- Safety Management: Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and manage continuous improvement systems to ensure safety policies are followed.
- Environment Management: Ensure compliance with environmental policies through regular audits and risk assessments.
- Quality Management: Oversee quality policies, manage continuous improvement systems for quality issues, and raise quality issues to the Operations Manager.
- DIFOT Performance: Develop processes to ensure all orders are delivered in full and on time.
- Cost Control: Work with the Operations Manager and Sales Team to ensure accurate quoting and manage operations to meet labour and materials targets.
- Operational Excellence: Implement 5S and Lean Manufacturing standards, research state-of-the-art systems and technologies, and provide strong leadership to mentor teams.
- Production Control: Develop and implement FIFO production control processes and manage standard work instructions.
- Welding Quality Management: Work with the Engineering Manager to develop, implement and maintain a welding quality management system in line with ISO 3834 and ISO 9001 standards, including managing welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection/testing processes.
The Successful Applicant Must:
- Have experience in managing welding operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Possess excellent safety, environmental, and quality management skills.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Be experienced in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies.
- Have a high level of computer literacy, especially with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
- Be able to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Be adaptable to changing priorities and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
