The role
Opportunity for a Welding Supervisor to join our team-based Garden Island to oversee our welding operations, ensuring they consistently meet stringent standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. As a pivotal leader and technical liaison, you'll play a crucial role in fostering effective communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across our welding coordination team, fabrication team, and project management personnel.
Working alongside the Welding Engineer, Welding Inspector, and fellow Welding Supervisors, you'll provide essential technical expertise and support to welding personnel through comprehensive training, mentoring, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing customer specifications and developing welding procedures accordingly.
Training, qualifying, allocating, monitoring, and supporting welders to ensure adherence to quality requirements, customer specifications, and safety regulations.
Continuously monitoring ongoing welding work for compliance with quality and safety standards, conducting scans of completed welding for defects or missing welds.
Liaising with various project stakeholders and third parties to maintain effective communication channels.
Arranging and overseeing required production tests and inspections, while managing welding quality documentation and records.
Promoting a culture of safety and quality within the welding team, emphasizing proper procedures, equipment maintenance, and hazard identification.
How About you?
Australian recognized Welder, Fabrication, or Boilermaker trade qualification, or equivalent tertiary studies.
AS 2214 Structural Welding Supervisors and/or AS 1796 Certificate 10.
Minimum 3 years' experience supervising welded fabrication work.
Proficiency in fabrication, welding, cutting processes, welding equipment, and consumables.
Familiarity with national or international welding standards, welding technology, basic metallurgy, and general fabrication requirements.
Practical welding ability with experience in training welders.
