Welfare and Wellbeing Officer

Our Seasonal Worker Team at Costa Emerald is growing! We have an opportunity for a new Welfare and Wellbeing Officer to make their mark. In this role, you will join our team in supporting our Seasonal Workforce and create an environment where they feel comfortable, safe and supported during their stay. 

This is not your average role and will require someone who enjoys keeping active in their days. You will be surrounded by an experienced and passionate Seasonal Worker Team as we juggle priorities and deal with the complexities of supporting 300+ workers from Tonga, Samoa and Timor Leste. This is a rewarding role with a chance to meet many new people and make a difference to their lives.

About the role:

The  role will involve the following;

• Providing general Welfare and Wellbeing support to our PALM scheme workers to ensure they are informed and comfortable to seek support and treatment as appropriate
• Providing support with attendance at doctors/hospital appointments for routine appointments and during emergencies
• Assisting with the arrival and departure requirements in line with the Seasonal Worker program
• With your team, ensuring PALM Scheme compliance through effective organisation, record keeping and documentation practices
• With your team, ensuring internal and external reporting requirements are met
• Assisting with the preparation of accommodation prior to the arrival and departure of the cohort
• Supporting the Facilities Manager in regularly undertaking accommodation inspections and communicating living standards through to relevant workers
• Supporting recreational activities and events for the groups, during the evening or on the groups days off (could be weekdays or weekends)
• Working with the farm teams to understand individual workers performance and supporting improved performance as needed
• Ensuring injuries are reported and escalated in a suitable timeframe to the relevant stakeholders

About you: 

We are looking for someone who meets the following;

• Experience working with Pacific Islander Communities is desirable but not essential
• Experience working with PALM scheme workers is desirable but not essential
• Experience or interest in Community Health or Social Work
• Is able to build relationships quickly and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
• Has strong administrative and organisational skills
• Has a good level computer literacy and is a comfortable user of Microsoft Office
• Holds an open drivers license
  
• Is able to participate on a 24/7 call-out roster and flexible for work on weekends on a TOIL arrangement
• Is able to pass a National Police Check
