We acknowledge the Worimi as the original Custodians and inhabitants of Port Stephens. May we walk the road to tomorrow with mutual respect and admiration as we care for the beautiful land and waterways together.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will work with a passionate and supportive team dedicated to the wellbeing of our workforce.

Reporting to the Work Health and Safety Manager, you will assist the team in the delivery of the WHS Framework, predominantly the Injury Management and Wellbeing program. This includes facilitating the administration and coordination of wellbeing initiatives and direct engagement with injured workers to support safe work protocols.

Council’s business activities are diverse, as are its safety and risk management needs. This provides great opportunity for diversity in the type of challenges and engagements this role will connect with. You will have the opportunity to implement and evolve Council’s mature approach to injury management and wellbeing programs in a supported work environment.

This role is part time (21 hours per week) for a 12 month term and offers flexibility, both in the application of those hours over the week and work-from-home opportunities, within operational needs.

Duties

 You will be responsible for:

  • Providing general administrative support to the WHS Manager and broader Enterprise Risk team.
  • Providing support for the Injury Management / Return to Work (RTW) Program and Health and Wellness Program.
  • Working closely with Wellbeing and Injury leaders across the business.
  • Supporting the delivery of the Return to Work program, including:
    • Triaging incidents where a worker injury has occurred, with the support of the WHS team.
    • Case management of injured workers (at various sites), including:
      • Management of records and communications.
      • Treatment Plans (including non-work related injuries), developed in collaboration with the key stakeholders (including the worker and, where relevant, the treatment providers and insurer).
      • Supporting and guiding the injured worker (and their manager(s)) through the RTW process.
        Reconciliation of workers compensation payments.

About you

You will bring energy, enthusiasm and a desire to have impact on worker wellbeing. You will have:

  • Diploma qualification in relevant field, or extensive and contemporary equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Return to Work Process, rehabilitation and workers compensation process.
  • SIRA Return to Work Coordinator Certificate.
  • A strong focus on accuracy and completeness of work, delivered in a timely manner
  • A professional approach and proven organisation and time management skills.
