Wharf Attendant

Assist the Largs North (BP) & Pelican Point (Ampol) Shore Officers in the discharge of products from international shipping vessels via the loading arms and pipeline.

These activities include but are not limited to:

1. Performs random safety checks of the work site.
2. Prepare wharf documentation prior to discharge activities.
3. Prepare the wharf pipeline, valves & fire fighting systems prior to discharge. 
4. Testing equipment is calibrated and in good working order.
5. Able to complete a 10-12 hour shift.
6. Open and close pipeline and loading arm valves.
7. Manual connection and disconnect of loading arms.
8. Responsible for undertaking and maintaining product test result records.
9. Communicating with personnel on the vessel.
10. Communicating product test results to Shore Officers during discharge activities.

The following qualities, skills and experience will be favourably considered:

1. Experience in Petroleum Industry - bulk liquid fuel facility or other oil and gas facilities
2. Tradesperson qualifications are highly valued
3. Strong safety values with a sound team focus - you will be working in a hazardous environment
4. Ability to work well in a team.
5. Self-starter who shows initiative.
6. Strong work ethic, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
7. Strong attention to detail particularly in relation to documentation.
8. Sound organisational and time management skills.
9. Mechanical aptitude.
10. Flexibility regarding working hours is a must as there is a requirement to work days, nights and weekends. Rates are higher for weekend work.

13. Successful applicant will need to undergo a criminal background check for MSIC & Flinders Port application process to be allowed on the restricted wharf areas.
