Wharf Attendant
Assist the Largs North (BP) & Pelican Point (Ampol) Shore Officers in the discharge of products from international shipping vessels via the loading arms and pipeline.
These activities include but are not limited to:
- Performs random safety checks of the work site.
- Prepare wharf documentation prior to discharge activities.
- Prepare the wharf pipeline, valves & fire fighting systems prior to discharge.
- Testing equipment is calibrated and in good working order.
- Able to complete a 10-12 hour shift.
- Open and close pipeline and loading arm valves.
- Manual connection and disconnect of loading arms.
- Responsible for undertaking and maintaining product test result records.
- Communicating with personnel on the vessel.
- Communicating product test results to Shore Officers during discharge activities.
The following qualities, skills and experience will be favourably considered:
- Experience in Petroleum Industry - bulk liquid fuel facility or other oil and gas facilities
- Tradesperson qualifications are highly valued
- Strong safety values with a sound team focus - you will be working in a hazardous environment
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Self-starter who shows initiative.
- Strong work ethic, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail particularly in relation to documentation.
- Sound organisational and time management skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Flexibility regarding working hours is a must as there is a requirement to work days, nights and weekends. Rates are higher for weekend work.
