This role would suit an experienced WHS leader who can join our team and help influence the safety culture across our operations throughout Western Australia.
About the Role
We are looking for a professional who enjoys working with a dedicated team to utilise and promote their skills in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting directly to the National SHEQ Manager, this position will work on a Monday to Friday roster out of OTR’s head office in Perth.
This role partners with Operational Leaders to deliver best practice Health and Safety standards and behaviours and to promote safety objectives in accordance with the business overall targets and objectives.
To be successful in this role it is important that you are able to blend well in diverse team environments and have the ability to give direction and guidance on Work Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental matters across a broad scope of stakeholders within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of OTR’s Health and Safety Plans
- Undertake effective workplace inspections, safety interactions and risk assessments as required
- Conduct Health and Safety and Quality related audits
- Provide coaching, advice, and support to operational departments on health and safety matters
- Continually review, propose and contribute to the development of improved safety systems and procedures to optimise safety
- Ensure the organisation complies and maintains accreditation against the latest Safety and Quality Management Standards set by the International Standards Organisation (ISO)
- Support the Injury Management Process along with complying with all legislative requirements, and monitoring, the RTW program
- Monitor and report on any changes to health and safety related licences, statutory regulations and standards
- Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and legislative changes related to WHS, and communicate updates to the company's policies and procedures to all stakeholders
- Work to drive and maintain the critical risk management program across the business
- Actively drive a culture of continual improvement
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary WHS qualification Diploma level or greater
- TAE Workplace Trainer and Assessor
- Suitable auditing qualifications to conduct and oversee ISO 45001 and ISO9001 internal and external audits
- Lead Investigator ICAM
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator
- Current Driver’s Licence
Desirable
- Experience in managing workers comp claims
- Experience in retail tyre industry or heavy engineering manufacturing environment combined with road transport and automotive repairing facilities
- An understanding of Stems One Safety Compliance Management Software
- Able to travel at short notice to remote Western Australian branches
- AIHS Certification
The successful candidate must also be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen.
