The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced WHSE Coordinator to provide support, guidance, training, and implementation across the Colas Queensland business. Reporting to the QLD WHSE Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for various matters including incidents, accidents, injuries and return to work management.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Prepare risk assessments for plant, processes and activities as undertaken by employees
- Maintain training matrix to reflect currencies of dates of ticketing, licences etc and provide this information to internal and external parties as required
- Undertake training gap analysis for all employees to identify any training needs
- Maintain competencies for employees (e.g., forklift, front end loader, bobcat)
- Investigate accidents/incidents and prepare final reports for management sign off, including updating the data base and reporting
- Continually improve, implement, and maintain the IBMS (Safety Management System) in consultation with the Site Managers, General Manager and Group WHSE Manager
- Organise training for employees with external trainers as required
- Liaise with customers and other stakeholders for the provision of information as required by contractual requirements
The Ideal Candidate will possess the following essential skills and experience:
- Diploma or Cert IV in WHS, Cert IV Training and Assessment
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Civil Road Construction, Manufacturing, Bitumen industry or equivalent
- Sound understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001, AS4801/ISO45001, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and Guidelines
- Experience in the maintenance and implementation of WHSEQ Management Systems
- Knowledge of Workers Compensation & Injury Management Act and other legislation administered by Australian Regulators
- Ability to work across all levels of the business
- Strong administration and computer skills
- The ability to coach, influence and guide
- The ability to travel as required
