  • demonstrate patience and empathy towards people in difficult/potentially traumatic situations; and
  • have full Australian working rights.

The following are highly desirable:

  • Tertiary degree or certification in wildlife biology, environmental science, ecology, zoology, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of or interest in the rescue, triage, rehabilitation and release of native Victorian wildlife.
  • Previous Emergency Response/contact centre sector experience.

About the Role

  • Respond and provide support/advice to inbound queries related to native animal welfare.
  • Manage and resolve complex wildlife scenarios with professionalism, compassion and expertise.
  • Facilitate active rescue and transport of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife via coordination with volunteers.
  • Utilise our internal systems to clearly and succinctly document all caller interactions.
  • Refer all non-native wildlife enquiries to appropriate external organisations.
  • Liaise with shelter operators, foster carers, vet clinics, DEECA, RSPCA and other animal and wildlife welfare and zoological organisations.
  • Ensure all cases are followed up and outcomes are recorded quickly and accurately.
  • Meet all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as advised.
