  • Permanent position (4 days), based in our Centre for Women’s, Children’s and Family Health in Campbelltown
  • $36.02ph - $45.14ph plus Super (dependent on qualifications + experience)

About the role

As a Women’s Health Counsellor, you will support women to overcome the effects of trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief and loss and other women’s health issues. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will undertake an initial assessment; provide high quality counselling, psychotherapy, case management, and therapeutic group work. You will provide outstanding service to our clients in a positive, respectful and culturally sensitive way. 

Duties

  • Provide counselling services and case coordination to women who are experiencing the impacts of complex trauma including Domestic Family Violence including historical child sexual assault and mental health concerns
  • Engage clients using appropriate strengths-based assessments and risk minimisation processes, including safety planning and the Safe & Together Model
  • Assess client needs using tools such as the Clinical Counselling Assessment Tool (CCA) and implement counselling supports
  • Co-facilitate psychoeducation and well-being groups for women
  • Represent the organisation at Interagency meetings and or events
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in the required timeframe

Skills and Requirements

You will be a Counsellor, Psychologist, or Social Worker with:

  • At least 3 years counselling experience ideally working with women who have experienced trauma
  • Experience supporting working with families affected by trauma, domestic violence, mental health or other forms of adversity ideally in a counselling setting
  • An understanding of trauma responsive practice and a goal focussed approach with the ability to work with clients presenting with a arrange of complexities and intersectionality
  • A clear understanding of client safe-guarding including child protection systems and mandatory reporting legislation requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Excellent time management and organising skills to balance competing demands
  • Excellent written skills in relation to note taking and record keeping
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic wellbeing and psychoeducation groups
  • Experience with the Safe & Together model is advantageous
  • Contribute to a positive and transparent team culture with a focus on reflective practice and personal accountability
