About The Job: We are seeking a proactive WHS Manager to lead health and safety initiatives for a Regional NSW Council. In this role, you will drive cultural change, implement safety strategies, and ensure compliance across Council’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a robust Work Health and Safety Management System.
- Lead and mentor a team of safety professionals.
- Provide expert advice on WHS matters and legislation to leaders and staff.
- Manage a comprehensive WHS training program.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or similar coupled with significant practical application within industry.
- Demonstrated experience in applied analytical skills for assessing and developing Health and Safety Management / Injury Management systems, including providing advice, guidance, and coaching to increase safety maturity.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of articulating strategic vision and leading stakeholders through change.
- Ability to create and lead high-performance teams in a dynamic, customer-driven environment.
- Proven ability to plan, manage projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines within budget.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and non-verbal), negotiation skills, sound decision-making abilities, and a commitment to consultation and engagement.
- Demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
Desirable:
- Previous work experience in Local Government.
- WorkCover Accredited Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Training.
