About the role:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Workplace Health & Safety General Manager will provide comprehensive WH&S and compliance advice to support the entire organisation. The role provides safety leadership to manage and consistently improve Workplace Health and Safety, with the overall goal to ensure the Health and Safety of workers. This is achieved by developing and implementing strategies to ensure the organisation’s compliance with all government requirements and best industry practices.
Key Duties:
- Management of the WH&S system, procedures and activities ensuring compliance with legislative, training and client requirements.
- Lead and provide guidance to the WH&S committee and its implementation within the business.
- Observe and adhere to all WH&S state and federal law, including Regulations, Codes of Practice, Standards and Safety Rules.
- Conducting the necessary safety training and re-training sessions for all team members.
- Maintain all WH&S records and reporting requirements.
- Conducting relevant site inspections to ensure compliance within state and federal law.
- Develop and manage an accurate reporting system to escalate matters such as the reporting of hazards, incidents, near misses and other valuable information.
- Manage internal and externally led audit systems to ensure compliance is met.
Skills, Experience & Attributes of the ideal candidate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety.
- Previous experience in overseeing the Health and Safety of team members.
- Chief Fire Warden
- Heavy Rigid Truck Licence (beneficial)
- Lead ICAM investigator (beneficial)
