We have a great opportunity for an experienced and proactive Health, Safety and Environment Manager to lead the safety function for our growing team. This is a key hands-on operational and strategic role responsible for driving best practice HSE throughout the Bridgeman construction and manufacturing businesses, driving the implementation of our HSE strategy and system, and providing support to employees performing high-risk activities on our construction projects and manufacturing site.

A key component of this hands-on role is the education, coaching, and development of employees to understand their Workplace Health, safety obligations. 

Key tasks & responsibilities will include:  

• Working collaboratively with stakeholders to drive consistent safe work practices on all Bridgeman sites/offices 
• Developing best practice in HSE matters across the business through inspection, audit, investigation and corrective action
• Identifying improvements in HSE policies, practices and standards
• Implementing, assessing and maintaining a comprehensive Health and Safety management system 
• Developing Health and Safety change initiatives to support the business operational objectives
• Partnering with all areas of the business to facilitate positive safety behaviours
• Development and delivery of safety training programs and initiatives as required.
• Travel to project sites and between Brendale/Eagle Farm offices to provide safety support and leadership. 
• Encouraging improvement and awareness regarding existing safety processes
• Actively implement, maintain and assess the safety management system
• Prepare risk assessments and liaise with employees/site contractors to meet legislative requirements
• Efficient document control of safety records
• Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to legislation
• Report on Health and Safety awareness, issues and statistics

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Excellent attention to detail and observation ability
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Energy and experience but also new ideas, innovation and a growth mindset - a passion for workplace safety and a proven ability to identify and drive continuous improvement
• Prior experience as a Senior Safety Advisor/Safety Manager in construction with a commercial builder / contractor (commercial construction projects in excess of $5m) 
• Qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience working collaboratively a range of stakeholders 
• A robust knowledge of construction related WHS legislation, regulations and standards, and experience advising and guiding managers and employees on best practice
• A team-focus, be self-motivated and get great results via effective prioritisation of tasks and time management.
• A strong sense of purpose, integrity and community focus - aligning with our company values and ethos
• Previous experience delivering small group training sessions or briefings
