The Role:
We are seeking for an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Manager to join our team. You will lead the development and implementation of safety strategies, frameworks, and programs while managing a small team of specialists dedicated to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace environment.
Your Responsibilities:
- Safety Management System: Manage and support our Safety Management System, including policies, procedures, processes, and standards to ensure all employees and contractors understand their responsibilities.
- WHS Risk Register: Oversee the maintenance and regular review of the WHS Risk Register, adapting to changes in the business risk profile.
- Safety Improvement Program: Develop and deliver the Safety Matters improvement program to enhance safety outcomes, promote a safety culture, achieve business objectives, and reduce financial costs.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating on safety management and improvement opportunities.
- Safety Assurance Systems: Implement systems, processes, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and support risk management regarding safety, health, and wellbeing.
- Training and Incident Investigation: Conduct training and presentations on health and safety matters, investigate accidents or incidents, and recommend solutions and preventive measures.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant Victorian legislation, applying and communicating any legislative changes.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team of specialists and work with executive leadership, senior leaders, and middle management to drive WHS improvements.
- Cultural and Behavioural Change: Experience in driving cultural and behavioural change in a complex organization, with high-level influencing skills.
- Inspections and Audits: Extensive experience in inspections, audits, risk assessments, reporting systems, and data management.
- Risk Management: Excellent understanding of high-risk activities and contractor management to identify, manage, and minimise safety risks.
- Communication and Organizational Skills: Outstanding attention to detail, observational abilities, and strong communication and organisational skills.
- Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety & Wellbeing or a related field.
- Public sector experience and familiarity with the transport, logistics, and/or customer service industries ( Desirable )
