The Role Reporting to the WHS Coordinator, the WHS Officer proactively promotes and influences the safety culture across the organisation whilst undertaking the day-to-day operational aspects of Councils’ WHS and Injury Management system. The WHS Officer is also responsible for training, assisting and auditing to ensure that all WHS requirements are implemented and maintained in accordance with NSW Work Health and Safety legislation. About You You will have excellent communication skills and are passionate about working collaboratively to deliver and maintain safety standards in line with legislation and Australian standards. You will have demonstrated Workplace Health and Safety experience, ideally across multiple industries including construction. You will have experience developing and delivering WHS training packages and experience in the development of health and wellbeing programs to support organisational needs. Essential Criteria Certificate IV WHS or equivalent qualification Extensive working knowledge of WHS Legislation and associated Codes of Practice, Australian Standards. Extensive experience in a blue collar environment completing WHS routine workplace inspections, accident / incident investigation and compliance auditing Experience in the writing and review of WHS documentation in relation to both system and contract works Ability to prepare risk assessment reports across a range of disciplines Availability to vary start/ finish times across multiple locations in line with operational requirements, with 2 days working from Council’s depot in Wilberforce from 6:30am. (Core hours of work will fall between 6.30am - 5.00pm / Monday - Friday.)
