The Role:

Based in Howlong and reporting to the WHS Manager, you will lead improvement activities and drive internal commitment to the site Health and Safety culture which supports the delivery of a safe workplace for everyone who works or engages with our business. In addition, assist with and support the administrative processes related to Injury Management and Return to Work, liaising effectively with the Return to Work Coordinators and People and Culture Business Partnerships.

Key duties include:

  • Prepare Safety Reports to identify, track, report and communicate on site safety performance to enable the identification of priority improvement opportunities
  • Participate in site hazard identification and risk assessment processes to ensure an ongoing safe work environment
  • Support and nurture an internal safety culture to ensure an appropriate safety environment for the present and future workforce
  • Provide WHS guidance for site expansion projects to maximise opportunity for an appropriate WHS work environment
  • Drive commitment to site WHS compliance projects (eg: dangerous goods, confined spaces) to ensure site legal compliance
  • Liaise with key stakeholder on ergonomic assessments on plant and equipment to minimise risk of injuries
  • Provide support to WHS-related education and training to ensure appropriate WHS compliance and Safety is achieved onsite

Skills Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Ideally tertiary qualified in Health and Safety, engineering, business or equivalent
  • Alternatively, a Diploma or Certificate IV in WHS with demonstrated experience in WHS
  • Strong interest in WHS field
  • Experience in the Meat, Food Manufacturing or FMCG environment would be an advantage
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard inspections, and audits in a manufacturing environment would be highly regarded
  • High level computer skill including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact and liaise with people at all levels
  • Ability to develop and implement industry-standard Health and Safety systems across a multicultural and diverse workforce
