The WR & Governance Manager is a newly created role, established to develop and implement a brand-new Workplace Relations strategy aligned to organisational objectives, in addition to overseeing governance and risk related matters, projects and initiatives. You’ll play a key role in leading and upskilling a team in the management of employee relations cases and advice and contribute to the further development of the broader People Services function.
The role
Reporting to the Head of People Services, the WR & Governance Manager will straddle strategic oversight with operational execution holding responsibility for a team of four.
In this role you will:
- Develop and lead the Workplace Relations strategy – this includes the development of relevant frameworks, reviewing and assessing industrial agreements, through to the preparation and execution of EA negotiations.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Consultants who provide day-to-day functional support in areas that include ER/IR, remuneration & benefits, policy and procedure development and the support of employee relations cases and queries, ensuring optimum service levels are delivered upon.
- Guide and provide resources, support and advice re Workplace Relations matters, enhancing the capability of the People team more broadly.
- Ensure a Governance strategy is developed and implemented, policies reviewed, developed and implemented and robust governance measures are in place and upheld.
- Establish and maintain close working partnerships with the People team and senior stakeholders, contributing to the evolution of a delivery-oriented People Services function.
- Extensive expertise in Workplace Relations – specifically, hands-on experience inclusive of WR strategy development, complex ER case management through to the preparation and leadership of EA negotiations and the development of positive union relationships.
- Strong business acumen with the proven ability to both develop and operationalise strategic people outcomes to align with business objectives.
- Previous leadership experience coaching, mentoring and proactively supporting the development of individuals and teams.
- Experience gained within government, industrial services or aligned industries.
