Position objectives
The Technical Officer will be responsible for:
- Supporting various engineering, road construction and maintenance, asset management, site surveying, condition assessment and investigation performed by the business unit. Duties comprise; assisting in the preparation of project designs, contract documentation, monitoring of capital works projects, surveying of road infrastructure, investigations and job estimates of works.
- Providing higher level support and advice to the Infrastructure Works and Infrastructure Services team staff.
- Assisting with and undertaking investigation, define scope of works, prepare project plans and briefs for council capital works program.
- Having a strong customer focus and team player attitude
Qualifications and experience
Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications or lesser formal qualifications and extensive experience in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Drafting, Surveying, and Civil Set-out.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of projects, including preparing contract documents, jobs estimates, site work supervision and the production of site inspection reports.
- Experience in civil surveying procedures and Computer Aided Drafting with the ability to apply specifications, standards, codes, acts, and regulations.
- Working knowledge of road construction and maintenance works, drainage works and traffic design principles.
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willing to obtain one prior to employment.
Salary and conditions
The position is classified within Band 6 of Council’s current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $90,876.24 to $98,943.00 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
