Join the dynamic team at King Island Council, a vital Bass Strait Island municipality. With a history dating back to 1907, Council has consistently provided essential community infrastructure and services. Operations span across unique responsibilities including broadcast facilities, civil construction, and heritage asset maintenance. Council is seeking a Works Manager who's ready to lead operations and service delivery, bringing Council's significant assets and service contracts to new heights.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Lead and cultivate a positive, safe workplace culture to drive the success of the Works team.
- Efficiently manage Council's resources, operations, contracts, and collaborate with the Works Coordinator for field-based operations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Works Management and Asset Management systems and strategies.
- Provide strategic, operational, and tactical advice on construction, maintenance programs, and project matters.
- Promote a positive Council image, manage plant and equipment cost-effectively, and ensure maintenance and operations meet defined service levels.
What You’ll Need
- Experience in a supervisory or management role within a project management or civil construction environment.
- Proven practical knowledge in civil construction and maintenance operations, including managing contractors and consultants.
- Strong legislative knowledge, financial management skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to personal integrity, continuous improvement, strategic thinking, and achieving results.
- Experience in Local Government, works depot operations, construction, and maintenance of community facilities.
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Civil Construction, Engineering, or related field.
