Workshop Assistant

Rombola Family Farms encompasses over 4,000 hectares of intensive irrigated horticultural production at Griffith (NSW) and Mataranka (NT). Agricultural enterprises include almonds, wine grapes, seedless watermelon, rockmelons, broccoli, and pumpkin. Operations include primary production, processing, value adding and marketing.We are seeking a passionate and driven Workshop Assistant to join our team and contribute to the maintenance and support of our maintenance department.Key operational accountabilities include:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating machinery and equipment.
• Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues to ensure timely repairs.
• Carry out minor repairs and adjustments on machinery, tools, and equipment as directed.
• Support the installation and setup of new equipment, ensuring it meets safety standards and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment condition.
• Collaborate with other team members to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, including tools, equipment, and maintenance storage areas.
• Assist in conducting regular inspections to identify potential hazards or maintenance needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or team leader.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

• Experience working as a diesel mechanic, preferably with farm machinery.
• A strong understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to working with heavy machinery.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• A willingness to work flexible hours during peak periods.

• Relevant certifications or trade qualifications would be an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive approach and committed to being a team player with excellent internal customer service skills.
• Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
• A current driver's licence.

Who we are:
Rombola Family Farms is a large scale, progressive, privately owned horticultural business based 20kms North of Griffith, NSW. The company operates a counter-seasonal operation at Mataranka in the Northern Territory enabling us to supply our melon and pumpkin customers year-round.Positions available: 5.
Renumeration: Horticulture Award Level 1. ($28.26)
Terms: 38 hrs per week (Casual)
