With over 80 highly skilled personnel, we specialise in the Fabrication and Erection of structural Steel in the Commercial, Agriculture and Mining sectors.
About the role
IMF Steel Construction is currently looking for a Workshop Leading Hand, to be based at our Rutherford Facility. Reporting to the Workshop Manager. You will be responsible for day to day running of the workshop, Pre-start and toolbox meetings, QA checks and delegation of work to tradespeople. This position will require you to provide leadership to a team of tradespeople whilst also working productively within the team.
This role forms an integral part of the IMF leadership team, driving performance and delivering through strong leadership and sound expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise workshop activities.
- Maintain an industry acceptable standard of competency in welding skill and ability, specifically meeting the coding requirements of ISO3834, AS5131 - CC2 and CC3, AS1554.
- Mentoring and development of tradespeople.
- Ensure fabrication activities are conducted within budget and on time.
- Ensure the early identification and reporting of quality issues.
- Review fabrication drawings and associated traceability documentation including ITP’s, weld maps and liaise with workshop Manager & Welding Supervisor.
- Drive productivity and efficiency initiatives in the Workshop.
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental awareness.
- Provide technical guidance and solutions for complex works.
- Ensure client expectations are exceeded for all works performed.
