Key Responsibilities
Workshop Supervisor
- Manage daily operation of the Workshop to ensure work is undertaken in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Take responsibility for maintaining the current Safety Culture within the Workshop by being a present and visual example whilst conducting daily pre-start, weekly toolbox meetings and safety inspections.
- Coordinate and manage workshop resource allocation, equipment, material, and consumable needs including overseeing all major fabrication and repair jobs being carried out.
- Ensure consistent communication between your own team, stakeholders and field Project Managers, is reflective of MEA's vision, mission and values.
- Lead a team of quality trades, apprentices and TA;'s ensuring appropriate upskilling.
- Undertake daily planning and work scopes for all workshop functions.
- Plan and schedule each job, ensuring workshop production and productivity are maintained.
- Review work schedules regularly and adjust for variance whilst communicating challenges to other MEA members.
- Coordinate the activities of staff and regularly examine work performance (productivity, quality and timing) offering support and guidance to workshop staff to ensure high standard of quality of work and materials supplied align with pre-requisites of the contract.
- Maintain the workshop and yard to a high level of cleanliness and organization.
- Manage and maintain stock levels of all welding consumables, steel stock and general consumables by liaising directly with suppliers.
- Ensure all tooling and equipment in the workshop is maintained and kept to a high standard.
- Coordinating deliveries to the workshop and job sites.
- Generate regular reports for weekly MEA meeting outlining project progress and supporting budgetary compliance.
Preferred Skills
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, with proven expertise personnel and relationship management.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are essential, along with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Trade qualification (preferred but not essential) or ability to demonstrate similar experience
- Highly reliable, motivated and driven to increase the productivity and organization of the workshop.
- Ability to read and follow workshop drawings, manuals, procedures etc.
- Proficient in the use of mobile phone and basic computer software.
- Strong communication skills.
- Hands on experience in heavy fabrication ,manufacturing and repairing of transport equipment is highly desirable.
- Be happy to help out on the tools when needed.
A current NSW Driver's License and the right to work in Australia are required for this position.
