Job description

Due to business growth and exciting new projects, RISSafety, Wetherill Park is recruiting a skilled and qualified Workshop Supervisor to lead our team of trade personnel. You will take ownership of the workshop, leading our team members to apply their skills and knowledge daily.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your key responsibility will be to supervise trade qualified personnel in the Fabrication Workshop. The role will be responsible for allocating and monitoring of workshop tasks to meet fabrication timeframes with a focus on work being completed safely. Further aspects of the role will be monitoring workshop productivity, quality control, pre-welding, and post-welding fabrication checks, providing advice / guidance to trades personnel as required and controlling the stock materials and consumable needs. The role will also have an element of hands-on application assisting in the fabrication process

The ideal candidate is a Tradesman with extensive experience in the fabrication and welding of aluminum & steel components. He will have experience in similar industries and is well organised, has excellent supervisory and people skills with previous experience managing trade personnel in a busy workshop environment.

The Role:
Lead a team of tradesmen in a busy workshop.
Provide guidance, support, and direction to ensure efficient workflow.
Engage in hands-on work, participating in manufacturing of equipment.
Manage and oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring optimum use of available resources.
Maintain project related documentation and schedule jobs as per priority.
Study fabrication drawings and plan production processes.
Keep track of manufacturing progress and report any issues.
Liaise with engineering, project, sales teams to ensure on time project delivery.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing as needed.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets quality standards.
Foster a positive and safe working environment.
Familiarise yourself with the ERP system and utilize it for efficient stock management, order tracking, and production reporting.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards in the workshop.
Conduct tool box meetings.

Critical to the role is a minimum of three (3) years previous workshop experience, relevant trade qualification & manufacturing industry experience.
Background trade in fitting, fabrication, machining, or engineering. Ideal candidate will have welder qualification.
Demonstrated knowledge and previous experience in a manufacturing workshop environment.
A developed mechanical understanding of height safety equipment manufacturing would be highly regarded but is not essential.
Have excellent technical ability, strong numerical & analytical skills,
Excellent knowledge of Aluminium & Steel manufacturing / fabrication processes.
Ability to manage both hands-on and supervisory responsibilities.
Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to a safe working environment.
Intermediate computer literacy skills e.g. Internet-based applications, MS office and outlook
Passion and a positive attitude to deliver the best outcome for our internal/external customers.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
This role is available for an immediate start, renumeration commensurate with experience.
