The Opportunity

Our Payload division designs and manufactures the category leading Hercules dump bodies and Barracuda mining buckets – both of which are regarded for their proven ability to provide significant payload advantages.

We are seeking two highly skilled, self-motivated Workshop Supervisors for our purpose-built facility in Forrestfield.  The primary focus of these roles will be to oversee and drive the execution of all activities in a safe and productive manner as well as be the first point of contact on the shop floor.   This role is ideally suited to a dynamic, confident and respectful individual who has a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes involved in heavy mining attachment production.

Both positions are based in Forrestfield and offered as full-time, permanent positions working both day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective Workshop floor supervision, leadership and always support a safe working environment.
  • Assist with disciplinary management, including but not limited to, attendance, fitness for work, quality, productivity and safety performance.
  • Develop a culture which encourages self-driven personal development, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes involved in heavy mining attachment production.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the team, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Providing training and instruction to the local contractors regarding the manufacture of Schlam products
  • Attend and chair all prestart meetings, instigate feedback of high-risk tasks for the day or any new initiatives. 
  • Regular quality checks of work being undertaken including dimension, scope, procedure and specification.
  • Daily inspections of job packs to ensure they are being completed correctly. 
  • Assist with scope progress, analysis of those results and the implementation of action plan required to rectify.
  • Quality Management and Continuous Improvement work scopes.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Certificate IV Frontline Management (Desirable).
  • Trade Qualification in Boilermaker/Welder or Welding Supervisor.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role in fabrication or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication standards, welding specifications, assembly instructions and general arrangement details.
  • A strong understanding of the Australian Engineering Standards.
  • A safety-first focus and be a champion of safety.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbally and written and able to converse in a respectful manner across a diverse and multicultural team.
  • Adaptabilty to change as our business continues its projected growth.
