The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join the H-E Parts team at our Naval Base facility who has previous experience in the day to day running of a manufacturing workshop and has the necessary skills to supervise and mentor our Workshop Employees.
Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead and supervise the performance of an excellent team of skilled employees within our Fabrication workshops.
To be considered for this role applicants must have 5 years Supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing / MEM environment, a strong focus and commitment to health and safety and the ability to manage job schedules and allocation of new and repair products in the workshop.
Key responsibilities include: -
- Lead the Production team to ensure effective operation of the site to maximise efficiency and cost.
- Drive performance on a daily basis across the Operation.
- Ensure that project timelines are maintained and provide regular updates to Project Management Team on any expected delays or cost overruns
- Engage, lead, motivate and develop your team through effective people management strategies ensuring capability of people to achieve individual, team and overall site objectives
- Involve the team by encouraging and motivating them to deliver safety excellence and promote risk awareness
- Identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programs
- Participate in, and support, operation improvement projects in conjunction with key stakeholders
- Optimise plant performance to reduce waste and downtime.
- Conduct morning pre-start meetings to cover all daily issues including; safety, job requirements, communication etc.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and internal customers
- Provide engineering/mechanical expertise for quotations when required
- Ensure sufficient manpower and resources are available to meet work requirements
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Trade qualification and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Heavy manufacturing / MEM environment or mining related industry
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory / leadership role
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work overtime
- A proven commitment to Health and Safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly regarded (but not essential):
- Experience with Pronto or SAP
- Microsoft Project / scheduling software’s
- Welding Supervisor – AS 1796 Cert 10
