The mission of Malvern Uniting Church is to be an Open House for a Flourishing Community through the Gospel of Jesus. Consisting of all generations, it is in a period of significant renewal where all parts of church life are focused on taking the best elements of tradition into a new season firmly focused on contemporary culture. Worship is an essential aspect of this and shall incorporate elements of the traditional in contemporary expression.
About the Role
The primary role of the Worship Director is to lead and collaboratively develop the team of musicians and tech volunteers in crafting an engaging and excellent worship experience for Malvern services and special events.
- Committed to Jesus Christ, open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and whose life evidences the fruit of the Holy Spirit
- Demonstrated skills and experience in music performance and worship leading
- 2 years part-time fixed term opportunity, 7.5 hours per week.
Key outcomes and associated activities
- Develop an enhanced vision for authentic contemporary worship services, incorporating a variety of instruments and traditional elements, in collaboration with the team
- Oversee the weekly preparation and execution of contemporary worship services
- Coordinate and nurture the growth of teams, including musicians, worship leaders, and audio-visual personnel, in a collaborative manner
- Model spiritual integrity, preparation, responsibility, and healthy relationships within the Worship Team, fostering a vibrant and creative team culture
- Lead weekly service debrief and planning meetings
- Manage worship team rostering for services and events
- Oversee the organisation and utilisation of stage, sound desk, and technical/media equipment for creative and quality worship experiences
- Lead efficient and well-organised weekly worship team rehearsals in collaboration with the team
- Undertake other duties within the scope and responsibilities of the role.
